The Gray Lady of Hampton Court


 “Two names sprang instantly to mind when I saw the image,” said Lucy Worsley, Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces. “Catherine Howard, our celebrated ghost Queen and fifth wife of Henry VIII, and Sybil Penn, a royal nurse who is believed to be the ghostly spinner. Both are traditionally seen as The Grey Lady.”


Built in 1525, Hampton Court Palace has harbored kings, queens, and many other members of English royalty. Henry VIII’s third wife, Jane Seymor, died at Hampton Court while giving birth to the couple’s only son. Catherine Howard was imprisoned at the palace before being executed for adultery. Penn died of smallpox at Hampton Court.

1 LaVeta Place in Nyack, New York  A “legally” haunted New York house is on the market again. Former owner Helen Ackley — who lived in the Queen Anne Victorian at 1 LaVeta Place in Nyack, from the 1960s to the late 1980s — publicly asserted the presence of various poltergeists who hailed from the Revolutionary War era and regularly shook beds, slammed doors and traipsed the halls with their phantom footsteps. Her home, which dates back to the 1890s and fronts the Hudson River just 25 miles northwest of Manhattan, is about to list for $1.9 million with Nancy Blaker Weber of Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty. GHOST on a plane!

Ghosts on a plane? Francisco Hernandez was finishing his shift when he heard a mysterious noise coming from the plane and went to investigate. As the 32-year-old shines his torch down the aisle, a shadowy figure peers around the corner at him. In the horror footage, Francisco was left trembling with fear after clocking off at 3am. He explored the dark plane in Mexico City as part of the airline's protocol after he heard doors slamming on it.
